Not your usual homeschooling/unschooling pod! This is a podcast where I speak to people who challenge and critique norms and trends related to parenting, children's autonomy, (home) education, unschooling, and motherhood. Prepare to get a little uncomfortable - it'll be worth it!

Cross-post from a life unschooled
Today I had the best laid plans for an essay on mutual aid as a path toward our co-liberation. But alas, both kids are home sick, and life is reminding me about caring for what's right here in front of me. But! The world of Substack is bountiful, and instead, I'm so happy to share with you all this beautiful conversation I had with Fran Liberatore of the Subtack "Unschooled." Fran invited me to join her on her podcast to talk all things mothering, community, consent, and radicalization. Check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks always for supporting this space. Here in community with you all. RM -

Hello friends!

I’m excited to start another series of podcast conversations, focused on bringing you ideas and experiences of others who have chosen to challenge norms and assumptions around what it means to raise children, to mother and to live in ways that centre autonomy, consent and collective liberation.

In this episode, I chat to Sara Sadek.

I connected with Sara on Substack and have loved her writing ever since. It is powerful and absolutely necessary for this time.

In this podcast episode, we talk about building community with a sense of shared values and purpose, what it means to radicalize ourselves as mothers and humans, and how to share our values with our children while honoring their autonomy.

More about Sara below:

Sara Sadek (she/her) is a mother, writer, educator and community builder living on the Ohlone land of San Francisco with her partner, two kids, and their very cuddly dog.

Shaped by her experiences as a mother and first-generation immigrant, her work serves as a radical re-imagining of the world we want to live in: one that reconnects us to ourselves, each other, and this planet in our quest for collective liberation.

You can find Sara's writing at Radical Matriarch, follow on instagram @radicalmatriarch, and find her upcoming course offerings at rearinghumans.com.

Please bear in mind I do not edit the transcript at all, and so you may not get an accurate transcription of our conversation.

I hope you enjoy this episode!
